In the following week, internationally renowned pianists, including Krystian Zimerman, Dang Thai Son, and Haiou Zhang, will grace the stage of the Xinghai Concert Hall in Guangzhou, captivating the audience with concertos and solo performances.
Vietnamese-Canadian pianist Taisan Deng, recipient of the gold medal at the 10th International Chopin Piano Competition in 1980, is the first Asian pianist to achieve this award. On January 7, he will join forces with the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra under the baton of the young conductor Sun Yifan, presenting Frederic Chopin's Piano Concerto No.2 in F Minor, Op. 21.
On January 11, the German-based Chinese pianist Haiou Zhang, will deliver a solo piano recital featuring Beethoven's late piano sonatas and Franz Liszt's Piano Sonata in B minor.
Maestro Christian Zimmerman will also make his debut at the Xinghai Concert Hall on January 14 to kick off his solo concert tour in China. Regarded as one of the best interpreters of Chopin's works, Zimmerman will enchant the audience with Chopin's iconic nocturnes and piano sonatas. Additionally, he will perform Claude Debussy's Estampes and Karol Szymanowski's Variations on a Polish Folk Theme.
