Starting from this month, Guangzhou will greet a number of shows with different themes varying from modern art to archaeological findings.
To help the exhibition-goers know about information of the shows earlier, SilkRoadPost is launching a series to give visitors some advance notice of them.
1. Guangdong Major Historical Theme Fine Arts Creation Document Exhibition
Venue: Art gallery of Guangzhou Academy of Painting
Time: Run till November 20, 2023
The exhibition is held not only to commemorate the centennial of convening the 3rd National Congress of the Communist Party of China, but also to retrospect significant results achieved by the circle of fine arts in Guangdong.
It emphasizes the interaction between visual design and literature, which enables creators to deduce the story behind by virtue of modern artistic thinking, striving to use different visual demonstrations to provide visitors a new access to modern theme fine arts creations.
2. The Archaeological Site of Panlongcheng (盤龍城): Bronze Civilization in the Yangtze River Valley
Venue: The Nanyue King Museum (the Nanyue Palace site)
Time: Run till December 10, 2023
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the initiation of Guangzhou archaeology as well as the 40th anniversary of the discovery of the tomb of Zhao Mo, the second king of Nanyue Kingdom (204-112 B.C.).
To commemorate the two paramount events, an exhibition is underway in the Nanyue King Museum. Aiming to display the achievements of generations of archaeologists and those working in museums and cultural sectors, the exhibition is also designed to present the development of Chinese civilization characterized by inclusiveness along with diversity in unity.
3. Lovers in the World: Cultural Exhibition of the West Chamber
Venue: Guangdong Museum
Time: Run till February 25, 2024
Derived from the romantic novel the Story of Yingying (鶯鶯傳) by Yuan Zhen of the Tang Dynasty (618-907) , Romance of the West Chamber (西廂記) was written by the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) playwright Wang Shifu. It tells the love story between a young scholar Zhang Sheng and Cui Yingying, daughter of a court minister, which began chaotically but reached a happy ending.
4. Singularity Plan Festival
Venue: Media Space of Zhujiang (Pearl River) Brewery's old factory area
Time: From November 17 to November 19, 2023
The action-packed festival is expected to gather a good number of artists excelling at various fields, including illustrations, oil paintings, stick figures and manual works and ceramics, combining fun with aesthetic value.
Tickets are limited and can be purchased via the WeChat mini program "奇點藝術節". Visitors will be admitted in accordance with defined time slots.
5. Take a Breathe
Venue: 04:59 Art Space
Time: Run till November 28, 2023
Through works of abstract colors, artist Liu Lian seeks to present the blank spots in life to help visitors take a breath out of their sentiment.
