Starting from March 2025, Guangzhou Opera House welcomes the Women's Art Festival. This festival will gather top-tier domestic and international arts troupes and artists to present a diverse range of performances themed around women, including musicals, dance dramas, and plays.
The play "Deling and Cixi" will make its debut in Guangzhou, offering an ultimate visual feast. This play is an attempt by playwright He Jiping to explore the dramatic possibilities within history, focusing on an interesting episode from the Qing Dynasty: the story of a girl born in China but raised abroad, who accidentally enters the imperial palace and interacts with Empress Dowager Cixi (the de facto ruler of the late Qing Dynasty).
The adapted version pays more attention to the emotional depth of historical figures, transcending the stereotype of romantic love between men and women. It focuses more on the pure human emotions between individuals and uses a fresh perspective to interpret the relationship between women and power during a turbulent period.

The ballet "Qixi" is a "love letter to China" co-created by artists from China and France, presented in the form of neoclassical ballet. The Cantonese dark drama "M Gung Dik" (translated as "Unspeakable") is adapted from screenwriter Yu Rongjun's Mandarin play "The Unspeakable," exploring women's power and selfhood from a modern perspective.
