The Nansha Passenger Port has established a Digital RMB Payment Service Demonstration Zone and successfully deployed two multilingual machines that support exchanging foreign currency into digital RMB.
These two machines support multiple languages, including Chinese, English, and Japanese, and offer comprehensive functions such as exchanging foreign currency cash into RMB cash or digital RMB hard wallets, as well as recharging and checking balances and transaction records on the hard wallet.
The machines enable real-time conversion of eight foreign currencies, including Hong Kong dollars, US dollars, British pounds, and euros, into digital RMB hard wallets. They also support various identification documents, such as ID cards, passports, and Hong Kong and Macao travel permits, ensuring that international visitors can easily and quickly complete their exchanges.
It is introduced that the service lowers the payment threshold, allowing users to apply for a hard wallet and make purchases without needing a domestic bank account. It also enhances payment security by reducing the need to carry cash, thereby lowering security risks.
Additionally, the service provides extensive payment coverage, supporting transactions across a wide range of scenarios both online and offline, including Marriott, Sheraton, and Wanda Plaza.
As a key region in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Nansha's initiative not only aligns with the goals of deepening cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao but also strengthens its position as an international shipping hub.
It is introduced that Nansha is also working with Guangzhou Port Group to promote the application of digital RMB in the port and shipping sector. Relying on new trade service platforms, Nansha strives to achieve a breakthrough in the innovative application scenarios of digital RMB.
