During the scorching month of July, the paperflowers in Guangzhou's Huangpu District are in full bloom, creating a vibrant summer scene.
Driving over the Fengle Interchange, one can witness the paperflowers blooming profusely, their colorful petals standing out brightly against the sunlight. As the vehicle glides smoothly from Fengle North Road to Fengle South Road, it feels as if it is traversing through a sea of purple and red blooms, offering a visually stunning and breathtakingly beautiful experience.
The vibrant paperflower belt has attracted the attention of many citizens and netizens. Mr. Li, a local resident, praised the blooms, saying that the flowers are incredibly beautiful and that Fengle Interchange has transformed into a paperflower Interchange.
Xiao Shengping, a relevant official from the Huangpu District Greenery and Park Management Center, said that the green belt is planted with purple paperflowers, stretching from Fengle North Road all the way to the Guangyuan Expressway, covering a length of about 4,000 meters.
The pedestrian overpass at Baosha Road on Kaifa Avenue offers the best opportunity to capture stunning photographs of paperflowers that will "go viral". With a total greening length of 280 meters, the bridge is planted with red and purple paperflower varieties.
Bougainvillea, also known as paperflower or Brazil paperflower, is named for its thorny branches and flowers that resemble azaleas. It commonly comes in red, purple, light purple, orange, pink, and white. Additionally, it is highly resilient and heat-tolerant, with exceptional resistance to car exhaust. Currently, it has become a "popular star" in the green belts of many urban roads and has even been chosen as the city flower of Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Jiangmen, Huizhou, and other cities.
Currently, there are 72 bridges in Huangpu District that are planted with paperflowers, including pedestrian overpasses, interchanges, ramp bridges, and tunnel bridges, with a total length of over 50,000 meters. The varieties planted are mainly purple and red paperflowers.
