Co-organzied by Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and People’s Government of Guangdong Province, the 5th Forum on China-Africa Local Government Cooperation was held in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province on July 9.
With the theme “Working Together for High-level China-Africa Community with a Shared Future”, the forum includes plenary meetings and three sub-forum, featuring discussion about industrial cooperation, green innovation and talent cultivation.
At the forum, Lukia Nakadama, Third Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda, spoke highly of the relations between China and Uganda. "Diplomatic relations between Uganda and China have stood the test of time since 1962, shortly after Uganda's independence," said Nakadama.

Christian Ntsay, Prime Minister of Madagascar, looked back in his speech on local government cooperation between China and Madagascar over the past few years that featured economic growth, infrastructure investment, and a shared desire to strengthen local governance for sustainable and balanced development. He also envisioned the cooperation and sister city relationship between the local governments of China and Madagascar. "The Sava Region is considering new local government cooperation with China after the 9th International Day of Regions," said Ntsay.

According to China's Ministry of Commerce, trade volume between China and Africa exceeded 280 billion US dollar in 2023, which reached a new level between the two regions. China has been the first trading partner of Africa for 15 years.
