As the weather has cleared up, the summer-exclusive sunflowers have come back to the Guangzhou CBD.
The flower beds in Hongcheng Park (宏城公園) on Ersha Island (二沙島) are refreshed with seasonal flowers every season, and for summer, they feature sunflowers. The park is free of charge and open to the public all day. Near the flower field, there are also sculptures of historical figures.
The sunflower plants are about 60 cm tall, arranged in a pattern resembling five-petaled flowers. Pathways wind through the sea of flowers, allowing visitors to walk in and find the best spots for pictures.
Many visitors, dressed in light-colored clothes, come here to take photos and enjoy the bright summer vibe.
Some photographers even use drones to capture aerial views of the sunflower field.
A little girl with a bubble gun catches the attention of those around her, becoming a focal point for photographers.
"She creates a dreamlike atmosphere," said a passer-by.
At 6 pm, when the sun is going down, the sunflowers look particularly beautiful against the evening sunlight.
At 7 pm, night falls. The Canton Tower, the Guangzhou International Finance Center (IFC), and the Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre light up. Sunflowers quietly stand amidst the CBD's glittering landmarks and skyscrapers.
Transportation
1. Metro: Take the APM Line to the Haixinsha station and walk 800 m westward, or take Metro Line 3 to the Canton Tower station and cross the Haixin Bridge to the park. Please note that on weekends and holidays, visitors need to make a reservation in order to cross the Haixin Bridge. The reservation is free of charge.
2. Drive a car: Drive to Hongcheng Park and park at the east gate of the park.
Tips: In the heat of summer, remember to wear sunscreen, beware of sunstroke, and stay hydrated. There are vendors in the flower field selling chilled mineral water and green bean ice lollies. However, they might be slightly more expensive than at a convenience store.
Also, avoid stepping into the flower beds when enjoying the sunflowers.
