With the approval of the Guangzhou Municipal Government, the city will conduct a citywide air raid alarm test and the "2024 Guangzhou Sky Shield" urban civil air-defense drill on the morning of September 21 (Saturday, National Defense Education Day).
On the day of the drill, air-raid warnings will sound throughout the city from 10:40 AM to 11:03 AM. The schedule is as follows:
10:40 AM - 10:43 AM: Advance warning
10:50 AM - 10:53 AM: Air-raid alarm
11:00 AM - 11:03 AM: All-clear signal
At the scheduled time, fixed sirens, air raid alarm vehicles, and certain multimedia air defense and disaster warning systems in the city will send out signals simultaneously. In the meanwhile, Guangzhou TV General, Guangzhou Metro TV, and Guangzhou's radio stations — FM96.2MHz (news), FM102.7MHz (music radio), FM106.1MHz (economy and communication radio) ——will also air the alarm signals. Additionally, Guangzhou branches of China's three major telecom companies — China Telecom, China Mobile, and China Unicom—along with the city's emergency warning information release system and the VHF intelligent disaster prevention and emergency warning system, will disseminate relevant information via SMS, WeChat, Weibo, and other platforms in due course.
During the test, everything may proceed as usual, except for some pre-arranged military drills in designated enterprises, communities, and schools.
Since 2000, Guangzhou has conducted the annual air raid alarm test and the "Guangzhou Sky Shield" urban civil air-defense drill for 24 consecutive years.
