On January 22, Nansha held a centralized start-up event on key projects of the first quarter of 2024. Around 56 key projects have commenced construction or near completion, with a total investment of about 63 billion yuan (US$ 8.78 billion), covering municipal infrastructure, industry, water conservancy projects, housing construction projects, and other fields.
Of note, the south extension of Lingxin Avenue (靈新大道) will start transportation construction. It is planned as an urban trunk road. The project is located south of Wanqingsha (萬頃沙) town, Nansha. The south extension of Lingxin Avenue is 2.5 kilometers long and can accommodate six to eight lanes in both directions. The speed limit on the avenue is 60 kilometers per hour.
A longitudinal road in a north-south direction will be formed with the help of the south extension. This project is expected to promote the construction of the southern area of Wanqingsha and strengthens the connection between municipal roads and the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link.
It will also strengthen the external connection between the area and the cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, thus promoting the transformation of Nansha into a transportation hub in the Greater Bay Area.
